Afrab-Chem Limited was originally established and registered in 1968 under the name Afro - Arab Techni-Chemicals Limited by a Nigerian - Jordanian Group of Pharmacists, Chemists and Business Entrepreneurs as Pharmaceutical Distributors. In 1973 the first manufacturing plant was established to produce few selected pharmaceutical products under technical know-how agreement with the following international companies:

- Arab Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company, Amman-Jordan

- Zambon Group Spa, Milan , Italy .

- Dr. Andreu Laboratories, Barcelona , Spain

- OM Laboratories, Geneva , Switzerland .

At the initial stage, the product range includes Analgesics & Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-malarial, Anti-biotic, Multivitamin, Anti - rheumatics, Anti-diabetic, Anti-spasmodic, Anti-histamine, Cough & Cold mixtures and a range of few other OTC products.

Over the past three decades, Afrab-Chem has recorded a steady growth and expansion in its operations. Presently Afrab-Chem has emerged as a respected leader in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry in Nigeria with strong commitment to producing high quality pharmaceuticals.

Nevertheless, Afrab-Chem in preparation for the challenges of the emerging economies of the ‘90s, embarked on plant expansion and improvement programme. Presently, the main Factory and the Laboratories are being modernized to comply with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and World Health Organization (WHO) Standards.
